2012 Favorites : Makeup

Hey my loves! Moving on with my 2012 favorites posts this one today will be all about my favorite makeup products of 2012. I don’t think I have anything too exciting to show you, but I’ve used and loved these items a lot. If I've reviewed/swatched any of the products I will put a link to the review/swatch post to each one (I'm so behind with reviews, damn..). Let’s take a look! ;)

Elf Studio Cream Blush in Tease : it’s a lovely neutral peachy color that goes almost with everything. I’ve paired it with smokey eyes, neutral eyes, red lips, berry lips, it’s just the perfect “nude” color for me and I love the consistency of it.

Too Faced Shadow Insurance Eye Shadow Primer : I won this eyeshadow primer in a giveaway quite a while ago, but I hadn’t opened it. I opened it around November I think and I’ve been loving it ever since. Don’t get me wrong, I still love my Elf Mineral Eyeshadow Primer, but when I need my eye makeup to last a long time I’m using the TFSI!

Elf Studio Cream Eyeshadow in Dawn : I didn’t do a yearly favorites post for 2011, but if I had done one this product would definitely be in it. It’s a lovely neutral, everyday color that lasts a long time on my super oily eyelids with a primer underneath and you don’t need to set it with a powder eyeshadow, so it’s extremely quick and easy. Love it!!!

Elf Studio Cream Blush in Temptress : Yeah this looks brown, I know lol! I don’t use it as a blush obviously, it’s too.. brown. I use it to contour my cheeks and it works great without looking obvious, plus it’s almost foolproof since it’s a cream product.

Sally Hansen Cornsilk Matte Shine Control Powder in No Color : I think this product has been discontinued or replaced with another product, but I’ve had it for a long time and hadn’t used it at all. It’s a really nice powder that doesn’t contain any color, so it doesn’t alter the color of my foundation.

Garnier Anti-Dark Circles Roll-On in Fair/Light : I didn’t think that I would like this product so much when I bought it, but I do! My under eye circles are not very dark/intense, so that’s all I need to cover them and brighten the area, plus the metallic roller ball feels so nice and refreshing!

L’Oreal Telescopic Waterproof Mascara in Black : I won this in a giveaway and up to that point I loved big, fat mascara wands. Well, that has changed with this mascara. It has a very thin plastic wand with very short bristles and it grabs every single lash making my lashes look like fake. I’m obsessed with this mascara! It holds my curl as well, awesome!!

Essence Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Black : I suck at liquid eyeliner, I admit it. I try to draw a line and it looks like a picture from a cardiograph! With this liquid eyeliner though I have quite a lot of control and the sponge tip applicator is quite flexible and soft, so it doesn’t hurt my eyes. Definitely try it!

Elf Mechanical EyelashCurler : If you’re afraid of eyelash curlers, then give this a go. I used to be terrified of eyelash curlers, but after trying this I can’t put mascara on without using it first. It’s the only eyelash curlers that I use. They have a really sturdy grip, so that you won’t risk pinching your eyeball, and they’re so affordable!

Elf Eyebrow Kit in Dark : I’ve been using this on my eyebrows for 2 years now and I’ve barely made a dent in it. With this kit you can make your eyebrows look natural or dramatic, you can do whatever you want. Plus it’s so affordable and the packaging is really cute and convenient!

NYX Concealer in a Jar in Beige : Along with the Artdeco Camouflage Cream, this is my favorite concealer for blemishes. It lasts for hours on my oily skin, even when I don’t set it with powder, and it provides good coverage.

Lovie Lipstick in Nr. 60: I love this lipstick, especially when combined with taupe eye makeup. It’s so pretty! And affordable too!

Have you tried any of these products? What were your favorite makeup products for 2012? I’m always open to suggestions and I love trying out new things!

QOTW 11 : What's the best concealer for really bad under eye cirles?

This week's question comes from one of my lovely readers, Veronica . A few days ago she asked me on a Random Tip of the Day what's the best concealer for under eye circles, because hers are really bad. Mine aren't so bad and they don't bother me much, so I haven't really searched for a good under eye concealer and  I have no suggestions for Veronica. I've heard the Bobbi Brown Corrector in Peach is really nice, but I've never tried it, so I can't recommend it.

So, what's the best heavy duty concealer for really dark under eye circles? :) It could be from anywhere, drugstore or high end, as long as it performs and covers really well.

Review : L'Oreal True Match Concealer in W 1-2-3 Fair/Light

As you can see from the pictures below, I've used and loved this product a lot! It's called True Match Super Blendable Concealer and I have it in shade W 1-2-3 Fair/Light!I quite like the True Match range, but I think that this concealer is one of the best products among the range! :)

The packaging is quite simple, it comes in a small plastic lip-gloss type tube with a brush applicator and a metallic cap! I like it, because it's quite compact and you can easily throw it in your purse, without taking up a lot of space! :) The packaging holds 5.2 ml! :) Here's what it looks like, I have to warn you though that it doesn't look so good in the pictures, because I've had this concealer for so long:

The actual product is quite thin, but not watery, which is good, because I hate watery concealers! It applies easily and blends like a dream! I've been using it on pimples and red spots and it works really well and it lasts pretty long if you set it with some powder! I haven't tried it under my eyes though, so I have no idea how it performs there! If anybody has tried this on their under eye area, please let me know how it works! :) On my face it doesn't crease and it doen't look cakey, it actually looks pretty natural ! The color I picked up matches me really well, which is always a huge plus! lol ! Like the foundation, this concealer comes in a variety of shades from pretty fair to pretty dark, so you will propably find a shade that will match your skintone! :)

I bought this concealer from the USA, so I have no idea how much it costs! I think it's about $7-8! Here in Greece it must be expensive, like all L'Oreal products, so you better buy it online, you will save a lot of money that way! Check Ebay for example! ;) Since this concealer is quite pigmented you don't need a lot of product each time, so this little tube will last you a really long time! I bought other concealers recently, so I have to use them up first, but when I do, I'll definitely pick another L'Oreal True Match Concealer! Give this a try if you need a new concealer! ;)

Review : Artdeco Camouflage Cream in Nr. 6

This is my favorite concealer for blemishes and redness! I totally love it! It's called Camouflage Cream and it really covers like a camouflage cream! I wouldn't use it on the under eye area though, as it's super creamy and provides heavy coverage, so it would propably crease and settle into fine lines! It's not meant for the under eye area anyway! So, let's get this review started!

This concealer comes in a cute little magnetic pan that you can use as it is, since it comes with a clear cap, or you can put it in one of Artdeco's Empty Palettes ! It's so small and convinient, I love throwing it in my purse, as it doesn't take up a lot of space at all ! Despite its size it holds 4.5g of product, which is pretty good! ;) Here's what it looks like:

The clear plastic cap slides right off

Here's what Artdeco says for their product :

Waterproof cover cream for every skin type to cover red veins, pigmented moles, port-wine stains, tattoos, etc.
Camouflage Cream covers flaws in the skin perfectly and reliably and is ideal for special occasions, like photographic- or bridal make-up. All colors can be mixed with each other which means the skin color can be matched exactly. The Camouflage Cream is also an ideal long-term make-up and lasts well even if the surrounding temperature is high. The cover can be light or heavy – depending on the amount applied and gets waterproof after fixing powder has been applied. It is very practical because Camouflage Creams are available separately, can be combined individually in the refillable magnetic box and those that have been used up can be replaced.

All these claims are true!! This concealer is super creamy!! It blends like a dream and it lasts for ever! If you've been following my blog for a while you know that I have oily skin! This concealer lasts all day on my oily skin, even if I don't set it with some sort of powder, no matter how high the temperature is!! That's freaking amazing!! It also covers really well, I have a lot of redness on my face, especially around my mouth and on the sides of my nose, and some occassional pimples and this concealer covers up everything without having to use a lot of product! I think I have shade Nr. 6 ( I've lost the sticker that states the shade Nr.) and it's a great match for my skintone! Here's a swatch of it on my finger unblended :

Here's what Artdeco suggests for application:
Application
After moisturizing, remove a little Camouflage with a spatula, mix or soften on the back of the hand. Then apply thinly and evenly, using a slightly moistened latex sponge, and blend in at edges. You neutralize redness with green Camouflage and lighten dark areas and bluish shadows with yellow shades. If necessary, mix two color shades together. To make sure that the shade of make-up matches the skin tone exactly, always test the shade in a small area of the face, e.g. the cheek or where chin joins neck. Then apply fixing powder.

First of all I don't own a spatula lol ! And I've never tried the makeup sponge method! I usually apply it and blend it with my finger, since I get better results that way, the product melts right into your skin from the warmth of your finger! You can definitely use a concealer brush though, I've tried it and it works perfectly fine! :) You can use a brush for both application and blending or only for application and use your finger to blend! ;)

So, in case you haven't noticed I absolutely love this concealer, you have to try it!! It retails for about 6Euros here in Greece and you get 4.5g of a really pigmented concealer, so this pan will last you for ever! I've had mine for over a year and I still have tons of product left! ;) Definitely check it out!! You can find out where Artdeco Cosmetics are sold on their official website !
